54. Pan-African Acceleration Program - Strengthening the Entrepreneurial and Technical Capacity of Growth-oriented Digital Entrepreneurs

Objective
Support incubators, accelerators, and early-stage financing at the country and/or regional-level, and conduct learning and knowledge activities, including evaluations of practical interventions and research on industry trends, entrepreneurship ecosystems, and the role of digital entrepreneurship for trade, productivity, competitiveness, and shared prosperity.

Methodology and activities performed
Workshops for interested applicants prior to selection of first cohort were conducted. Afterwards, an identification of other key partners, such as financiers, media or corporate interests was made. The evaluation of the applications and selection of first cohort was handled, as well as the matching selected participants with appropriate mentors. Mentorship and coaching prior to on-site activities in South Africa were made. A facilitating daylong workshop for mLab managers and a delivering program to selected participants were performed. In addition, a Demo Day to match participants with potential investors was organized.

Results
The preparation and submission of 3 case studies showcasing one XL Africa start-up from Kenya, South Africa and Senegal. The demonstration of lessons learnt and the identification of each company specific information on the challenges and opportunities encountered with the mLabs from each country to support them to improve their future programming.
